Side Event Description: This side event aims to spotlight the urgent need to accelerate international cooperation in the fight against cybercrime, with a particular focus on enhancing the timely exchange of digital evidence across jurisdictions.

The event will bring together Member States from Southeast Asia to share practical experiences, challenges and good practices in strengthening cross-border mechanisms for mutual legal assistance, informal cooperation, and public–private collaboration on evidence exchange. Selected countries from the region will highlight national efforts and lessons learned in handling cybercrime cases requiring swift evidence sharing.

The discussion will emphasize opportunities provided by the new Convention on Cybercrime to streamline procedures, foster trust, and build operational partnerships. By showcasing regional perspectives, the side event aims to contribute to shaping practical pathways for fast-tracking cooperation and ensuring that investigators, prosecutors, and policymakers can act effectively against cybercrime.

Objectives:
Highlight the urgency of accelerating international cooperation in investigating and prosecuting cybercrime.
Promote timely exchange of digital evidence across jurisdictions to address the speed and volatility of cybercrime cases.
Facilitate knowledge-sharing on practical experiences, challenges, and good practices in cross-border evidence exchange.
Strengthen mechanisms for mutual legal assistance, informal cooperation, and public–private collaboration in handling cybercrime cases.
Showcase national efforts and lessons learned from selected Southeast Asian countries in managing cross-border evidence-sharing needs.
Explore opportunities offered by the UN Convention on Cybercrime to streamline procedures, build trust, and foster operational partnerships.
