Cryptocurrency Crime Trends and Binance Support to Law Enforcement

Room: R347

Time: 14:00 to 15:00, 26 October 2025

Organizer: Binance

Side Event Description: The session will address the increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies globally, and a consequent abuse of this technology for criminal activities. The session will explore different types of crimes that have emerged over the last few years and will detail how cryptocurrency exchanges assist law enforcement in detecting these. The session will place a great emphasis on operational cooperation, capacity building and public-private cooperation, which are essential to fight and prevent criminal activity. We will also discuss transparency of cryptocurrency transactions and how this leads to successful law enforcement investigation, supported by real-world case studies. We have delivered a similar content at many UNODC events around the world where we were invited as the largest cryptocurrency exchange to provide insights on practical public-private cooperation.

This session directly supports the goals of the UN Convention Against Cybercrime by addressing the global rise of cryptocurrencies and their misuse for criminal purposes. It offers practical insights into how international cooperation and public-private partnerships can help mitigate these emerging threats.

By examining real cases and trends in cryptocurrency-related crime, the session contributes to the Convention’s objectives of capacity building, operational cooperation, and knowledge sharing among Member States. It demonstrates how private sector works with law enforcement to trace illicit transactions and disrupt criminal networks, strengthening cross-border collaboration.

Ultimately, the session underscores the importance of collective action between governments, international organizations, and private industry to effectively prevent and combat cybercrime in the digital era.
