Side Event Description: The Global Programme on Cybercrime as the lead of UNODC’s technical assistance on cybercrime, together with the Civil Society Unit, and the Southwest Grid for Learning (SWGfL) will present its Model of Work in countering this crime.
With a view to raise awareness of this multi-faceted phenomenon and to discuss current challenges at the level of criminal investigation and prosecution, and international cooperation of this growing cybercrime, UNODC invites delegates of government, private sector and civil society members to participate in this launch event.
Objectives
– Present UNODC’s Model of Work in countering NCII for implementing Art.16 of the UN Convention
– Highlight the need of public-private partnerships in combating NCII
– Highlight the use of technological solutions in preventing NCII
– Emphasize the role of organized civil society as a key player
– Facilitate dialogue and partnerships for future capacity building initiatives
Expected Participants: 36-70 people
