Translating the UN Convention against Cybercrime into practice: Multistakeholder pathway and perspectives to effective implementation

Room: R205

Time: 11:00 to 12:00, 26 October 2025

Organizer: European Union

Side Event Description: This discussion will distil key lessons from the negotiations and translate them into actionable proposals for stakeholder participation during the preparation of the future Conference of State Parties, including strategies for inclusive modalities in its Rules of Procedure, and avenues for input into any future process to negotiate additional protocols to this Convention. It will also outline ways in which multi-stakeholders can support the future Parties to the Convention in correctly and effectively applying this valuable instrument, including concerning the prevention and fight against cybercrime, the Convention’s human rights safeguards, the assistance to victims and the identification of technical assistance and capacity building needs. The session will also serve to ascertain how the Convention can facilitate the actions currently taken by multi-stakeholders. By identifying a set of near-term priorities to anchor cooperation, this session will frame a pathway to ensure continued dialogue among stakeholders, UNODC, and Member States beyond the side event.
